It was announced today that Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen’s creative director, will be receiving an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for her services to the fashion industry.Ms. Burton has been at the helm of Alexander McQueen since 2010, however she nabbed one of the largest British fashion credits to date when she was chosen to design Kate Middleton’s wedding gown, the dress that transitioned Kate from a commoner to a complete-fledged royal. The designer has continued to clothe the Duchess during her many official outings. Alexander McQueen himself, Anna Wintour and Vivienne Westwood are among the past fashion industry recipients of British high honors.
