CHICAGO (RNS) Mohammed Labadi had a abundance at stake when the DeKalb Megalopolis Council voted Tuesday (May 29) on a request from the Islamic Society of Northern Illinois University to build a two-tale mosque.Labadi, a businessman and Islamic Society board member, said a larger mosque is needed to replace the small house where community Muslims immediately worship. He also was hoping for affirmation that his neighbors and megalopolis officials have no dread of the Muslim community.”Don’t gaze at me just as a Muslim, gaze at me as an American,” Labadi said.
