Woodland Chemical Spill: Hundreds Evacuated, Dozens Hospitalized (VIDEO)

On Sunday, a chemical leak at a Woodland cannery sent 40 employees to Sacramento hospitals and forced the evacuation of nearly 1,000 employees, according to KCRA. At least two human beings are in serious condition. Shortly after noon, chloride-dioxide — a highly toxic sanitizing chemical used in tomato processing — leaked into a employment area. According to The Sacramento Bee, corporation spokeswoman Mona Shulman attributed the leak to an injection system overload. Once the leak was learned, nearly 1,000 employees were immediately evacuated.
